MY ROLE

Strategy, identity, guidelines & web design

YEAR

2026

01 โ€” OVERVIEW

Thinkspace started in the 1990s as a single film-scoring course on VHS. Today itโ€™s an online school with 40,000 students, all taught by people working in the industry.

It offers free courses, bootcamps and Masterโ€™s degrees. The teaching had moved on, but the brand hadnโ€™t: it looked dated, buried its best offers, and pointed everyone at the Masters. I led the project end to end โ€” strategy, audience, identity, guidelines and web design.

02 โ€” THE PROBLEM

Thinkspace offers a path from free course to Masters that no competitor can match. The old site hid it behind the degree.

03 โ€” BEFORE & AFTER

Same school.

A clearer front door.

BEFORE

A dated look, a busy carousel, and every route pointed at the Masters.

AFTER

New courses up front, one clear promise, and Masters, Bootcamps and Courses side by side.

THE INSIGHT

Nobody arrives ready for a Masters. They arrive stuck.

Reviews and a survey of 720 people showed most students start small, with a skill to fix or a craft to rediscover. So I designed paths around where people are, not what Thinkspace sells.

STEP 01

Free course

Try the craft. No risk.

โ†’

STEP 02

Course

Fix one skill, at your pace.

โ†’

STEP 03

Bootcamp

Live sessions and feedback.

โ†’

STEP 04

Masters

The full degree, awarded by AUB.

05 โ€” THE IDENTITY

Structured yet human.

Disciplined yet inspiring.

The mark is a small lesson in itself: three simple shapes that only make a whole when they connect.

01

The circle

The individual learner, wherever theyโ€™re starting from.

02

The connection

The dialogue between student and working practitioner.

03

The base

The foundation and structure every creative practice needs.

THE GUIDELINES

A system people can actually use.

The guidelines turn the identity into rules anyone can pick up: colour, shades and gradients, three typefaces and a full icon set, all in one place.

IMAGE EFFECTS

Texture you can almost hear.

Five image treatments borrowed from sound: reflection, frequency, signal noise, motion and fragmentation. They give photography the same feel as the music students make.

THE WEBSITE

Every page points somewhere next.

I rebuilt the site around the path: course pages that lead with the facts, modules you can scan in seconds, and proof from students at every step.

01 / 04

Course pages lead with the facts

Fees, length, start dates and outcomes sit above the fold, so nobody has to dig.

02 / 04

Modules you can scan

Each module is one card: what you learn, what you make, and who teaches it.

03 / 04

Bootcamps, out in the open

Short, live programmes get their own space instead of hiding under the Masters.

04 / 04

Proof from people like you

Student stories sit next to every course, so the next step feels possible.

course details

Game music is one of the fastest-growing corners of media composition, and this Masters is built to get you into the industry as a video game composer โ€” with all the skills needed to write and implement fully adaptive music using industry-standard engines and middleware.

You'll be given real room to develop as a composer โ€” finding your creative voice while bringing your production and writing up to a professional standard โ€” mentored throughout by working composers and game audio professionals. After graduation, ThinkSpace's Employment Support Programme helps you turn the qualification into a career.

Before you apply letโ€™s talk

We recommend speaking to a course advisor before you apply. Theyโ€™ll answer your questions and help you apply with confidence.

We're not aware of equivalent loan schemes elsewhere in the world, including the US (this includes the GI Bill for veterans). It's worth checking for local arts councils, charitable funds, or employer schemes that might help โ€” we can't track every option in every country.

With best wishes,

Welcome to Thinkspace. Weโ€™re glad youโ€™re here.

The pages that follow set out what happens next, what youโ€™ll need and whoโ€™s here to help. Thereโ€™s nothing to rush, just a few simple steps before 2nd October 2026.

Every creative practice is built the same way: a little at a time, with intention, and in conversation with people whoโ€™ve walked the road before you. Youโ€™ll join a team of around 30 students with your own Team Leader, learn from composers and producers working in the industry, and get feedback on your music at every stage.

Iโ€™m delighted to confirm your place on the MA Professional

Media Composition, awarded by Arts University
